About the position

The IT Project Manager 1 position at the State of Ohio involves overseeing the complete lifecycle of assigned IT projects, ensuring compliance with project management standards, and delivering projects on time and within scope. The role requires effective communication with stakeholders and project teams, as well as proactive risk management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the complete lifecycle of assigned projects under the direction of the PMO Manager.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including identification of project needs and definition of tasks and milestones.
  • Track project tasks, milestones, and phases to ensure projects are on schedule.
  • Take corrective actions if a project begins to fall behind schedule.
  • Ensure on-time completion and delivery of all project deliverables within the project scope.
  • Comply with change management procedures and manage changes for all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies and tracking to closure.
  • Prepare weekly status reports for each assigned project for stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Effectively communicate and work with project teams, external partners, and other State agencies to accomplish project objectives.
  • Present project status and escalate issues to division, IT, and senior leadership as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with project teams, key stakeholders, and project sponsors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related issues.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in project management, including management and development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing, training, and implementation.
  • 12 months of experience in budgeting and calculating cost projections of programs/projects.
  • Successful completion of 2 years of post-secondary education in a relevant field (business administration, public administration, computer science, social science, or health) with 12 months of budgeting experience, or equivalent qualifications.
