About the position

Indotronix is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator Level 4 for a hybrid job opportunity in San Diego, California. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases to ensure optimal performance and security. This role involves creating and implementing backup and recovery systems, as well as database migration and archiving procedures. The Database Administrator will collaborate closely with architects and technical specialists to identify the appropriate hardware and software implementations necessary for the organization’s needs. In this position, the Database Administrator will monitor database performance trends, identifying and correcting any issues that arise. The role requires a strong understanding of relational databases, including isolation and transaction concepts, as well as a detailed knowledge of temporal databases. The candidate will be expected to write complex queries and maintain SQL/MX databases, ensuring they are created and managed effectively. Additionally, the Database Administrator will provide input on organizational standards for database monitoring thresholds and will be involved in planning, installing, and testing software upgrades and patches. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience with HPE NonStop/virtual NonStop systems, along with extensive experience in database design and management. A Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field is highly desired but not mandatory. The role requires a team-oriented individual who is willing to collaborate and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and maintains databases.
  • Implements and supports database backup, recovery systems, migration and archiving systems and procedures.
  • Develops and implements database security infrastructure and user access accounts.
  • Collaborates with architects and technical specialists to identify proper hardware and software implementations.
  • Plans, installs and tests software upgrades and patches.
  • Monitors database performance trends to identify and correct problems.
  • Creates procedures for the design, implementation and testing of database systems.
  • Provides input on organizational standards for database monitoring thresholds.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years experience with HPE NonStop/virtual NonStop systems.
  • SQL/MX experience is a must.
  • Extensive experience with database design.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Strong understanding of isolation and transaction concepts.
  • Detailed understanding of temporal databases is highly required.
  • Ability to write complex queries.
  • Experience maintaining SQL/MX databases and creating them on demand.
  • Experience with disk management.
  • Experience recommending Database Management Systems (DBMS) to leadership.
  • Willingness to work within a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in any IT technical discipline is highly desired but not required.
