About the position

The Azure SQL Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for managing and optimizing Azure SQL databases within a leading renewable energy organization. This role is crucial for ensuring high performance, security, and availability of database systems, supporting the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Azure SQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor and tune database performance to meet the needs of applications and business processes.
• Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data and comply with industry standards and regulations.
• Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
• Diagnose and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and query optimization.
• Work closely with development teams to support database requirements, including schema design and query optimization.
• Maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
• Manage database upgrades and patches, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
• Implement automation solutions to streamline database management tasks and improve efficiency.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a SQL DBA and ETL with a strong focus on Azure SQL Database management.
• Proficiency in SQL Server, NoSQL, Azure SQL Database, and T-SQL.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and Azure Data Factory is a plus.
• Proven expertise in performance tuning, index management, and query optimization.
• Strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PowerShell scripting and Azure Data Factory.
