About the position

The Technical Analyst position is a hybrid role that focuses on collaborating with product ownership to translate business needs into technical system requirements for web and mobile applications. The analyst will leverage existing documentation and test versions of applications and APIs to gain a comprehensive understanding of current functionalities, which will inform opportunities for replatforming and enhancements. This role requires investigating enterprise and vendor APIs to ensure that the necessary data is available to support the intended system capabilities, as well as mapping data between interfacing systems to facilitate seamless integration. In addition to these responsibilities, the Technical Analyst will assist lead analysts in developing and prioritizing features and epics, ensuring that the work aligns with the product delivery strategy and focuses on requirements that provide maximum value. The analyst will participate in various project planning activities, including sprint and release planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), demos/reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement meetings. They will also perform application and services tests to validate functionality and ensure quality. A key aspect of this role is the creation of system requirement documentation for applications and services, including detailed interface specifications. The Technical Analyst will provide demos to both internal project teams and business stakeholders, fostering collaboration and understanding of the product's capabilities. Close collaboration with the Business, Quality Assurance team, and developers is essential to address production issues effectively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines, managing multiple priorities concurrently while utilizing system documentation, database information, application logs, and scenario testing to determine the root cause of system issues.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with product ownership to translate business needs into technical system requirements.
  • Leverages available documentation and exercises test versions of applications and APIs to understand existing functionality.
  • Investigates enterprise and vendor APIs to determine necessary data availability for system capabilities.
  • Maps data between interfacing systems.
  • Assists lead analysts in developing and prioritizing features and epics.
  • Participates in project planning, sprint and release planning, and daily stand-up meetings.
  • Performs application and services tests.
  • Creates system requirement documentation for applications and services, including interface specifications.
  • Provides demos to internal project teams and business stakeholders.
  • Works closely with Business, Quality Assurance team, and developers on projects and production issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with aggressive timelines.
  • Utilizes system documentation, database information, application logs, and scenario testing to determine root cause of system issues.

Requirements

  • Ability to write SQL queries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Team player with good listening skills, analytical mindset, and creativity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience conducting complex technical analysis across multiple products.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology.
  • Experience writing requirements for a system.
  • Experience writing mobile and/or web application requirements is a plus.
  • Experience writing mobile service and/or web service requirements is a plus.
  • Proficiency with API access tools such as Postman and SoapUI is a plus.
