About the position

The VA Automation Engineer (Software Development Specialist 3) role at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services involves designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions, including Virtual Assistants and ChatBots, utilizing advanced technologies such as AI, ML, and RPA. The position requires collaboration with business personnel to analyze processes and identify automation opportunities, ensuring integration with existing systems while adhering to state policies and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions such as Virtual Assistants and ChatBots using NLP and AI technologies.
  • Analyze business processes to identify automation opportunities and create detailed software design documents.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and IT staff to deliver automation applications following Agile methodology.
  • Implement automation applications using AI technologies and tools like UiPath and Microsoft Azure Bot Framework.
  • Ensure automation applications integrate securely with existing systems and meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Perform code reviews, testing, debugging, documentation, and deployment tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, and conduct quality assurance and testing activities.

Requirements

  • Completion of an undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems and 36 months of relevant work experience, or
  • Completion of an associate core program in computer science or information systems and 42 months of relevant work experience, or
  • 60 months of relevant work experience in systems analysis and software development, including 12 months in the primary technology specified.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Generative AI and Machine Learning technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
