About the position

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join its Legal Office. This position is crucial in providing legal assistance to three to four attorneys within the department, focusing on a variety of issues related to government contracts, affordable housing programs, loan closings, public records, open meetings, and administrative rules. The Legal Assistant will be expected to exhibit a high level of attention to detail and provide courteous customer service, ensuring a collaborative environment that supports the legal team effectively. In this role, the Legal Assistant will assist attorneys in tracking, processing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and agreements related to affordable housing programs. Proficiency in various computer programs and software, including Westlaw/Lexis, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential for success in this position. The Legal Office is committed to providing quality legal advice on all matters concerning affordable housing, and the Legal Assistant will play a vital role in this mission. The position is hybrid, allowing employees to work from home three days a week while requiring in-office attendance two days a week. Responsibilities

  • Provide legal assistance to three to four attorneys in the Legal Department.
  • Work on issues including government contracts, affordable housing programs, loan closings, public records, open meetings, and administrative rules.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and provide courteous customer service in a collaborative environment.
  • Assist attorneys in tracking, processing, drafting, and negotiating affordable housing programs contracts and agreements.
  • Utilize proficiency in computer programs and software including Westlaw/Lexis and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Requirements

  • More than four years of experience as a legal assistant in government or private practice.
  • Proficiency in real estate, clerical and data entry, law, operational and administrative support, and records management.
  • Strong skills in confidentiality, flexibility, organizing and planning, time management, and written communication.
