About the position

The Hydraulic Maintenance position involves repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, specifically focusing on hydraulics. The role requires hands-on experience with various mechanical devices, ensuring their optimal performance through troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance tasks. The technician will also be responsible for grounds maintenance and addressing safety-related issues within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Repair electrical equipment.
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Manufacture Kirksite gripper jaws.
  • Inspect the plant daily for any safety-related issues or hazards.
  • Fix office equipment, toilets, etc.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of experience in maintenance/hydraulics.
