About the position

Foth is seeking a Hydrogeologist/Hydrologist to join our Environment Solutions team in Green Bay, WI; Duluth, MN; or Minneapolis, MN. This is a hybrid position working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers. Responsibilities

  • Assist with hydrogeology and surface water hydrology projects in the natural resources development and environmental services industry
  • Conduct field investigations, including aquifer testing, surface water discharge gauging, and geologic logging/mapping
  • Execute technical investigations for hydrologic characterization of groundwater systems in environments comprised of unconsolidated deposits, sedimentary rock, and fractured crystalline rock
  • Perform quantitative analysis of hydrologic and hydrogeological data, including probabilistic analysis and forecasting
  • Develop technical investigation plans for hydrologic characterization of groundwater systems
  • Create technical reports and memos to support the permitting of natural resource development projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Water Resources Engineering or Geology with an emphasis in hydrogeology and/or surface water hydrology
  • Experience performing hydrogeological and hydrologic investigations, analysis, and modeling, through internships, co-ops or academics
  • Experience with technical writing and report preparation

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering or Geology
  • 2+ years of water resources / hydrogeology experience including numerical simulations of groundwater flow and constituent transport in unconsolidated, sedimentary, and fractured rock systems
  • Previous experience developing and applying numerical groundwater flow and transport models in support of mine permitting, industrial development, and site remediation
  • Experience developing and applying surface water models involving rainfall runoff/hydrology and open channel hydraulic processes for mine-scale water management planning
  • Previous experience with MODFLOW/MT3D, FEFLOW, and other numerical codes for groundwater modeling
  • Hands-on experience doing surface water modeling using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and XP-SWMM
  • Prior experience conducting packer and multi-well aquifer testing
  • Experience analyzing field investigation data
  • Previous experience with statistical/probabilistic analysis and forecasting involving hydrogeological and hydrologic time series data
  • Prior experience integrating hydrogeological and hydrologic studies and numerical analysis with feasibility studies and alternatives analysis
  • Experience analyzing groundwater flow and transport in deep bedrock environments
  • Previous experience managing large data sets and evaluation of data
  • Experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and documentation
  • Prior experience with mine permitting in the United States
