About the position

Earth Data Incorporated is seeking a highly motivated mid-level hydrogeologist to join their team. This full-time position involves applying hydrogeological principles and practices, particularly in the Mid-Atlantic region, to various projects related to groundwater and surface water management. The role includes data analysis, project management, and technical support, with a focus on groundwater modeling and permitting.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze aquifer pumping test data and interpret borehole geophysical data.
  • Assess the potential impacts of groundwater withdrawals on nearby users and resources.
  • Obtain and evaluate well construction, borehole geophysical, and pumping test data.
  • Design, construct, and sample groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Sample surface water structures and manage groundwater and surface water appropriation permitting.
  • Plan and conduct straddle packer testing in wells completed in karst geologic environments.
  • Function as a technical specialist and/or project manager on various projects.
  • Interact with and provide technical support to geologists, engineers, GIS technicians, and field technicians.
  • Collect, analyze, manage, and present data in reports, memos, and public forums.
  • Lead the production of technical reports and assist in developing specifications for groundwater supply projects.
  • Demonstrate superior task management skills, including scheduling and prioritizing tasks.
  • Assist in state and local-level water use permitting efforts.

Requirements

  • Degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • P.G. license and ability to obtain in Delaware and Virginia within 6 months.
  • Solid understanding of hydrogeological principles and practices in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Experience with developing MODFLOW-based groundwater models is a plus.
  • Experience obtaining and evaluating well construction, borehole geophysical, and pumping test data.
  • Knowledge of and practical applied experience designing, constructing, and sampling groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Knowledge of and practical applied experience sampling surface water structures.
  • Ability to function as a technical specialist and/or project manager on a variety of projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and client management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Mid-Atlantic regulatory and geology agencies (MDE, MGS, DNREC, DGS, VADEQ, VDH, PADEP, SRBC, DRBC) is desirable.
