About the position

This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), River Forecast Center (RFC), with one vacancy in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is also announced under vacancy number NWS WR UT-25-12654049-DE, which is open to all US Citizens or Nationals. Responsibilities

• Perform Lead Hydrologist forecast functions in the day-to-day hydrologic operation of the River Forecast Center (RFC), including both real- and non-real time operations.
• Perform routine daily short-range hydrologic and meteorological forecast operations before and during high water and flood episodes and long-range water resources forecast operations.
• Analyze incoming real time hydro/met data for consistency and process it into an operational hydrologic modeling system.
• Provide on-the-job advice and training on daily forecast operations to Hydrologic Forecasters, Hydrologic Interns, and Hydrometeorological Analysis and Support Forecaster (HAS) Forecasters.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.
• Selectee may be subject to serving a one-year probationary period.
• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
• A background investigation will be required for this position.

• Experience utilizing hydrometeorological techniques and equipment to assist with forecast preparation.
• Experience supporting the development of hydrologic modeling and analysis procedures.
• Experience collaborating with customers or partners on hydrologic forecast products and services.
