About the position

The Hydromet CLP Operator Trainee position at Freeport-McMoRan is designed for semi-skilled employees who will support the Operations and Maintenance groups while being trained to operate industrial processing equipment safely. The role emphasizes safe production and requires working under minimal supervision in a mining or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform area housekeeping tasks such as shoveling, using fire hose, and digging
• Operate processing equipment
• Assist with maintenance activities
• Operate mobile equipment
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Three (3) months experience in mining, manufacturing, industrial operations, commercial construction, commercial landscaping, or commercial agriculture
• Completion of academic and practical competencies required, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees
• Ability to apply knowledge and skills and pass a written assessment based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety

Nice-to-haves

• High School diploma or GED
• Three (3) months of experience with Hydromet Operations
• Experience with sample collection and analysis
• Experience operating material handling equipment including forklift, skid steer loader, and overhead crane
