About the position

The position involves performing mechanical and electrical repairs to machinery, equipment, and buildings within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The role requires knowledge of various technical skills including welding, cutting, pipefitting, and light machining, as well as the ability to operate different types of equipment safely and efficiently. The candidate will also assist in training new employees and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to machinery, equipment, and buildings.
  • Execute welding, cutting, pipefitting, and light machining tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and electrical maintenance.
  • Comprehend and execute assigned duties quickly and accurately.
  • Operate various equipment including stationary and mobile machinery.
  • Perform manual lifting of various weights, shapes, and sizes.
  • Execute Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for safety compliance.
  • Read machine prints or schematics to understand repair needs.
  • Measure and work to detail specifications.
  • Operate transportation equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
  • Assist in training new employees on equipment and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least one year of relevant trade experience or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Completion of academic and practical competencies required for the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills effectively.
  • Ability to pass a written assessment based on skills, abilities, and safety knowledge.
