About the position

The Quality Control Representative is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing operations meet quality system and product requirements through inspections, audits, and statistical sampling. This role involves compliance with BD's quality systems and safety regulations, as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives and training associates in quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first piece inspections and line audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct statistical sampling and hold non-conforming products as necessary.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing and management regarding quality issues.
  • Assist in training associates to meet quality system requirements.
  • Support compliance activities and product complaint investigations.
  • Trend quality metrics and investigate problem areas for corrective action.
  • Conduct line audits and develop visual instructions for quality processes.
  • Create and update Quality Notifications and Certificates in SAP.
  • Release products for sale and manage Global Holds in SAP.
  • Perform inspections using tools such as smartscope and optical comparator.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required; Associates degree preferred.
  • Ability to learn various inspection methods and use inspection tools proficiently.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with personnel at all levels.
  • Good knowledge of product and manufacturing processes, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with product and process specifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality processes and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) preferred.
  • Familiarity with process control tools and inspection equipment preferred.
  • Understanding of Quality System Regulations (QSR) and ISO regulations preferred.
  • Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
