About the position

The I.D. Clerk position at the Nueces County Sheriff's Office involves working in the Identification Bureau, where the incumbent is responsible for taking inked fingerprint impressions and mug shots, as well as maintaining accurate and confidential records. The role requires the employee to be on duty during emergencies and natural disasters, ensuring the safety and security of the identification process.

Responsibilities

  • Take inked fingerprint impressions (rolled, plain, and palms) when processing inmates.
  • Learn to read, classify, and search fingerprints in the fingerprint master file and automated fingerprint system.
  • Use appropriate software to enter and retrieve data from the computer.
  • Establish and maintain records and files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Prepare and issue documents according to specific instructions or established guidelines.
  • Take mug shots of inmates and participate in lineups as required.
  • Provide customer service to the public, including fingerprint services and background checks.
  • Perform other clerical duties such as filing, indexing, and recording information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of responsible clerical work experience, preferably with a government entity.
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.

Benefits
