About the position
The I&E Technician at Austin Industries is responsible for testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, overhauling, and repairing instrumentation and electrical devices to ensure optimal performance. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical schematics, PLCs, and the ability to read blueprints and manuals. The technician will work with various systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and apply mathematical principles to instrumentation tasks.
Responsibilities
- Test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair controlling, indicating, and measuring instrument devices.
- Layout, fabricate, and install tubing and tub trays.
- Apply mathematical knowledge to instrumentation tasks.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and loop drawings; prepare job reports.
- Assemble and disassemble electronic process controls, pneumatic controls, and hydraulic systems.
- Calibrate equipment using common calibration procedures.
- Understand and control pH and redox levels in liquids.
- Work with electrical components and understand Ohm's Law and Kirchhoff's Law.
- Understand steam properties and their reactions in different situations.
- Apply principles of chemistry and physics in instrumentation tasks.
- Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using proper test equipment.
- Understand fundamental instrumentation loops and their components.
- Apply procedures for measuring various physical parameters such as pressure, flow, and temperature.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience in instrumentation and electrical work.
- NCCER-Inst Tech Certified.
- Valid Driver's License.
