About the position
As the Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical Technician (I & E Tech), you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining all instrumentation and electrical equipment at the facility, which includes both low and high voltage systems. Your role will encompass corrective and preventive maintenance on process control instrumentation, control valves, control systems, motors, motor control centers, breakers, and any other electrical, instrumentation, or controls components utilized in electric generating plants. This position is located in the Gila Bend area, and candidates must be willing to commute to this location. In this role, you will troubleshoot and perform corrective actions on process control instrumentation and control valves, calibrate electronic and pneumatic pressure transmitters and controllers, and repair or replace thermocouple or RTD temperature elements. You will also be responsible for installing stainless steel instrumentation tubing and performing the installation, repair, replacement, and testing of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and perform corrective actions on electrical motors and plant electrical equipment and switchgear. Your responsibilities will include completing material requisitions accurately, writing detailed accounts of work performed on work orders, and maintaining good housekeeping practices, including the upkeep of company vehicles. You will be expected to perform all tasks assigned by the I & E Supervisor and adhere to safety policies while executing your duties. The position requires a good attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work well within a team. You will need to possess knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures, and be able to perform and review preventive maintenance tasks associated with all electrical equipment. The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single line drawings, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings is essential, as is the ability to operate a computer for accessing and updating work orders.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots and performs corrective action on process control instrumentation and control valves.
- Calibrates electronic and pneumatic pressure transmitters and controllers.
- Repairs or replaces thermocouple or RTD temperature elements.
- Installs stainless steel instrumentation tubing.
- Performs the installation, repair, replacement and testing of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
- Troubleshoots and performs corrective action on electrical motors and plant electrical equipment and switchgear.
- Completes material requisitions in a complete and accurate manner.
- Writes complete and accurate accounts of work performed onto work orders.
- Performs all tasks assigned by the I & E Supervisor.
- Maintains good housekeeping, including company vehicles.
- Performs all work according to safety policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 5+ years direct work experience as an Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technician in an industrial environment.
- Knowledge of different instrument technologies used in the power plant industry like pressure transmitters, level transmitters, flowmeters, etc.
- Basic knowledge of power plant processes (e.g., water treatment plant, Rankine Cycle, heat exchangers).
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical and electronic theory.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and single line drawings, loop drawings, and P&ID drawings.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Digital Multimeter & HART Communicator.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures and analyze process conditions to recommend improvements for reliability issues.
