About the position

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Waste Management, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment vehicles essential for landfill construction and maintenance. This role involves opening cells ready for trash fill, closing cells, and performing site maintenance and closures. You will be expected to operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. In addition to operating equipment, you will conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the machinery, maintaining accurate records of these activities. Your responsibilities will also include moving and positioning raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment. Following standard operating procedures for both operating and maintaining vehicles is crucial to ensure safety and efficiency in your work. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, allowing you to focus on the operational aspects of heavy equipment management. The work environment may involve exposure to various physical conditions, including dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes, as you will primarily work in a shop or field setting. The role requires a commitment to safety and the ability to perform physical tasks, including handling objects weighing less than 30 pounds occasionally. Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of previous experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, front end loaders, compactors, skid steers, excavators, and ADTs.
