About the position

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Waste Management, you will play a crucial role in the construction and maintenance of landfills. This position involves operating a variety of heavy equipment vehicles, including dozers, front-end loaders, compactors, skid steers, excavators, and articulated dump trucks (ADTs). Your primary responsibilities will include opening cells ready for trash fill, closing cells, performing site maintenance, and managing site closures or mining activities. This role is essential for ensuring that our operations run smoothly and safely, contributing to the overall efficiency of our waste management processes. In this position, you will be expected to operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures. You will conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the equipment, ensuring that all machinery is in good working order. Accurate record-keeping of maintenance activities is also a key responsibility. You will be required to move and position raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment, following standard operating procedures for both operation and maintenance of the vehicles. Additionally, you may be assigned other duties as needed to support the team and operations. This role does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing you to focus on the technical aspects of heavy equipment operation. The work environment can be physically demanding, requiring coordination and dexterity, as well as exposure to various environmental conditions such as dirt, noise, and weather extremes. Requirements

  • One year of previous experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to operate dozers, front-end loaders, compactors, skid steers, excavators, and ADTs.
