About the position

As an IIoT Data Engineer at Hitachi Digital Services, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative engineering team dedicated to the development and deployment of advanced Industrial IoT (IIoT) systems. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless data flow, system functionality, and integration across various platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional departments, including applications and data management partners, to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions. The current focus of the team includes Data Broker Data Management, Time-series Databases, integration with existing legacy systems, and migrating time-series data to the Cloud. Your primary responsibilities will include building, testing, and maintaining database pipeline solutions for time-series databases, PostgreSQL, and AWS Cloud systems. You will optimize data storage and retrieval processes for performance and cost-efficiency, develop and maintain ETL pipelines and APIs, and integrate third-party application data and MQTT data brokers while ensuring security and compliance with industry standards. Additionally, you will automate CI/CD processes to facilitate faster and more reliable application delivery, contributing to an agile team environment focused on scaling IIOT systems. This position requires a strong background in data management solutions, particularly within the IIOT/Manufacturing domain, and a passion for data quality, automation, and scalability. You will be expected to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring that complex concepts are understood across the board. Your contributions will be essential in driving the success of our IIOT initiatives and enhancing our capabilities in data management and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and maintain database pipeline solutions for time-series databases, PostgreSQL, and AWS Cloud systems.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines and APIs, integrating third-party application data and MQTT data brokers.
  • Ensure security and compliance with industry standards in all data management processes.
  • Automate CI/CD processes for faster and more reliable application delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and system functionality.
  • Contribute to the migration of time-series data to the Cloud.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in data management solutions, particularly leading complex data engineering projects within the IIOT/Manufacturing domain.
  • Expertise in data pipeline building using Spark, Scala, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
  • Proficiency in message brokers, including Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of relational SQL, NoSQL, and TimeSeries databases, such as PostgreSQL.
  • Extensive AWS experience, including EC2, AWS APIs, CLI, and SDKs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A passion for data quality, automation, and scalability.
  • Experience collaborating with data providers and back-end developers to design data flows.
