About the position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical systems and electrical components, with a focus on precision and quality. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance complex machinery and systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, service, maintenance, and repair of plant, voice, video, and data communications services with limited supervision.
• Drive company vehicle to work site or other locations within service area.
• Participate in rotational 'primary on call' responsibility, accepting and responding to after-hours customer trouble reports and installation requirements.
• Respond during emergency situations even when not on call.
• Use test equipment including DSAM meter, Optical Power Meter, Optical Scope, Fluke volt/ohm meter, Telephone Test Set, Toners, OTDR/TDR, and Underground Cable Locator.
• Adhere to company safety policies and practices, attending required safety and training classes.
• Work closely with the dispatch department and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.

Requirements

• Four or more years of related experience in installation, service, and maintenance of voice, video, and data systems.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and addressing technologies, LAN, WAN, MAN, Metro Ethernet, Ethernet P2P, POE, OptiMan, FTP, TFTP servers.
• Knowledge of the OSI model and voice protocols such as PRI, DTI, Analog-trunking, Sip-trunking, SIP, MGCP, Centrex, and PBX.
• Proficiency in Microsoft products in Windows-based applications.

Nice-to-haves

• AdTran & Cisco certifications.
• Experience with climbing certification and recertification.
