About the position

The Hardware Engineering Program Manager (HW EPM) plays a crucial role in the development of iPad Systems by overseeing the planning and execution of system prototype builds. This position involves collaboration with various cross-functional teams and contract manufacturing partners to ensure successful product ramp-up and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute system prototype builds during the development phase to product ramp.
  • Manage complex hardware product builds and drive resolution of technical build blockers with cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as the primary interface to contract manufacturing partners for the program.
  • Establish daily build schedules and distribution plans for identified builds.
  • Manage the internal design review process and release to vendors, reviewing design changes with cross-functional teams.
  • Drive overall schedule for on-time delivery to final assembly.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate engineering validation needs into the system build matrix.
  • Provide clear executive-level reporting on build progress.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering required, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware engineering or operations program management.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage factory build events and vendors.
  • Experience with system level flexes and boards.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage complex build matrices.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to handle rapid development cycles and constant change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Design, Systems Engineering, Reliability, Operations, and Marketing.
  • Ability to support international travel for build events.
