About the position

The iPad Hardware Engineering Program Manager (HW EPM) plays a crucial role in the development of new iPad systems by overseeing the planning and execution of system prototype builds. This position requires collaboration with various cross-functional teams and contract manufacturing partners to ensure successful product ramp-up and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex hardware product builds and drive resolution of technical build blockers with cross-functional teams.
  • Plan and execute product prototype builds, including materials planning and factory readiness.
  • Oversee system level flexes and boards, managing the internal design review process and release to vendors.
  • Review design changes with cross-functional teams and manage vendors and materials.
  • Establish daily build schedules and distribution plans for identified builds to support overall project plans.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate engineering validation needs into the system build matrix.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on build progress and act as the primary point of contact for contract manufacturing partners.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering required, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years experience in hardware engineering or operations program management, with a proven ability to manage factory build events and vendors.
  • Experience with system level flexes and boards, including managing design review processes and vendor releases.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage complex build matrices and planning.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid development cycles and constant change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Engineering, Design, Systems Engineering, Reliability, Operations, and Marketing.
  • Ability to support international travel for build events.
