About the position

The iPad hardware team is seeking experienced hardware and signal integrity engineers to tackle significant challenges in high-speed signal integrity, hardware design, and system integration. This role involves overseeing the entire product lifecycle from concept to mass production, playing a crucial role in the development of iPad products that will impact millions of users globally. The position requires collaboration with various engineering teams and includes responsibilities such as electrical design, simulation, debugging, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Electrical design, simulation, bringup, debug, and validation for iPads.
• Factory build support and collaboration with multi-functional technology teams.
• Engagement in the entire product lifecycle from concept definition to mass production.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience in designing consumer electronics and/or embedded systems with a focus on high-speed signal integrity.
• Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering, including analog and digital design, signal/power integrity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Comfortable in a lab environment using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep knowledge of system-level high-speed Serdes design and analysis, including understanding of transmitter and receiver equalization methods.
• Experience performing physical layer compliance testing of PCIe, USB, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt interfaces.
• Familiarity with lab equipment such as VNA, TDR, real-time scope, spectrum analyzer.
• Strong fundamentals in 3D/2D EM simulation tools and transmission line theory.
• Hands-on experience in prototyping, bring-up, debug, and validation.
• Schematic capture and rigid/flexible PCB layout.
• Ability to analyze solutions and make system design trade-offs.
• Demonstrated ability to understand technology and debug problems at varying levels of abstraction.
• Use of scripting languages to assist with hardware development and data analysis.
