About the position

The iPhone Touch Sensing Technology team at Apple is dedicated to creating the world's best user experiences through cutting-edge sensing solutions. This team is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-precision, low-latency MultiTouch solutions that set the standard in the smartphone and mobile industries. As a member of this team, you will face new challenges daily that require innovative thinking across various technical disciplines, including Electrical Engineering (EE), Mathematics, Physics, and Algorithms. The environment is collaborative and hands-on, fostering engineering excellence and creativity, and you will be instrumental in taking technology from proof-of-concept to ultra-high-volume production. In this role, you will be key in designing, developing, integrating, and launching next-generation touch sensing technologies. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional partners, such as Mechanical Engineering, Firmware and Algorithm Engineering, Display Engineering, and Process Engineering. You will engage in sensor design, characterization, and validation, as well as ASIC application design, system-level bring-up, and integration. Additionally, you will contribute to sensor technology scoping and proof-of-concept investigations, conduct failure mode analysis, root cause diagnosis, and system-level problem-solving. Business travel may be required to support product development, making adaptability and collaboration essential traits for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional partners including Mechanical Engineering, Firmware and Algorithm Engineering, Display Engineering, and Process Engineering.
  • Engage in sensor design, characterization, and validation.
  • Design ASIC applications and perform system-level bring-up and integration.
  • Contribute to sensor technology scoping and proof-of-concept investigations.
  • Conduct failure mode analysis and root cause diagnosis.
  • Solve system-level problems effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Fundamental knowledge of sensor physics, analog analysis, circuit design, linear algebra, and statistics.
  • Experience with sensor and systems integration preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in system-level design, architecture, characterization, and validation.
  • Attention to detail with proven collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and independently resolve technical issues.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid teamwork.
