About the position

The Flexible Residential Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing interventions and support to individuals residing in Intensive Group Living Environments (IBGLE and IBAGLE). This position focuses on enhancing independent living skills and maintaining community tenancy for Persons, contributing to their personal goals and overall quality of life. The role involves creating a supportive and trauma-informed environment, implementing treatment plans, and assisting with daily living activities to promote greater independence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide flexible coverage of Harbor and Staniford residences as assigned by the RPDs or ARPDs.
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment for Persons.
  • Implement interventions from Persons' treatment plans to develop skills in daily living, housing, employment, and socialization.
  • Coach Persons in activities of daily living using the Tell, Show, Do, and Apply technique.
  • Document interventions, progress, and changes in daily notes for assessment and treatment planning.
  • Contribute to high-quality clinical services by sharing observations in shift logs and collaborating in staff meetings.
  • Accompany Persons to medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments, teaching self-advocacy and community resource use.
  • Train Persons in medication self-administration and administer medications as per MAP standards.
  • Engage in crisis intervention and ensure the health and safety of Persons through safety plans and procedures.
  • Utilize recovery-oriented language and principles in all communications.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field is preferred.
  • At least one year of related experience is required, or three years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in word processing and computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Apps.
  • Department of Public Health certification in medication administration required within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to climb stairs and carry up to 40 pounds, and assist individuals with mobility impairments as needed.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
