About the position

The IBM Database Administrator role at Rang Technologies involves leading and supporting complex database upgrade projects, managing various types of databases, and ensuring the health and performance of database systems. The position requires a strong focus on planning, implementing, and enhancing database products to meet the business needs of the County.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting complex database upgrade projects
• Modifying, installing, testing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing system software products
• Planning, installing, configuring, testing, implementing, and managing core database products
• Supporting the County's database architecture and business needs
• Managing different types of databases such as hierarchical (IMS), relational (DB2), and file-based (ADABAS)
• Planning and upgrading database environments on a County-established basis
• Verifying the health of all databases
• Providing database administration technical consulting for application and operations teams
• Maintaining production database systems and conducting technical reviews
• Evaluating purposes of selecting new or fine-tuning existing DBMS software
• Consulting with project development teams to provide recommendations on database design
• Creating overviews of logical database designs and physical databases
• Conducting database capacity planning
• Monitoring database performance and space
• Handling database reorganizations, replication, compression, and partitioning

Requirements

• Experience with IBM DB2 and other database management systems
• Strong knowledge of database architecture and design
• Proficiency in database performance monitoring and optimization
• Experience in database upgrade projects
• Ability to provide technical consulting for application and operations teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with hierarchical databases like IMS
• Experience with file-based databases such as ADABAS
• Knowledge of cloud database solutions
• Experience in a government or public sector environment
