About the position

The IBM Maximo Solution Architect at Entergy Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting the innovative development of business solutions through IT, enabling the business to meet its objectives effectively. This position requires a solid understanding of available IT technologies, the operations of the business unit, its operating model, capability needs, and the challenges it faces. The architect will work closely with Entergy's Enterprise Architect (EA) function and IT Centers of Expertise (COE) to create a fully integrated and effective business solution. As an active thought partner with the EA and Business Unit Chief Information Officer (CIO), the architect will help shape the technology demand among the business unit, providing support for the Maximo application and its interfacing applications. Key business partners include Nuclear, Procurement & Supply Chain, and Accounting. The responsibilities include assisting in the creation of design guidelines for software and hardware integration, performance, reliability, operating, and security designs. The architect will support business units in creating project business cases, capturing business capability requirements, functional requirements, and expected service levels to create an actionable business-IT roadmap for Maximo. They will also create integration points of new business solutions with legacy systems, support BU CIOs in identifying opportunities for emerging technologies, and provide advisory roles on the impact of new technologies on existing systems. Regular visits to business units will be necessary to assess satisfaction and identify follow-up education opportunities, ensuring that business and functional requirements are maintained throughout the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of design guidelines for software and hardware integration, performance, reliability, operating, and security designs.
  • Support business units in the creation of project business cases, including success criteria.
  • Capture business capability requirements, functional requirements, and expected service levels to create an actionable business-IT roadmap for Maximo.
  • Create integration points of new business solutions with legacy systems to satisfy client requirements.
  • Support BU CIOs in identifying opportunities for emerging technologies to enable business strategies.
  • Provide advisory roles on the impact of new technologies on existing technical and information system environments.
  • Work with BA, PM, and QA teams to review test strategies and requirements traceability.
  • Ensure business and functional requirements are maintained throughout the development/configuration process.
  • Review and analyze user acceptance testing results.
  • Maintain an understanding of technology needs and solutions for the business unit.
  • Regularly visit business units to assess satisfaction and identify follow-up education opportunities.
  • Consider alternate delivery models for meeting business needs.
  • Liaise between the client, vendors, project management, and the technical team on questions, issues, and revisions to the solution architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 4+ years of experience working with Maximo and how it supports the business.
  • Entry-level understanding of Energy industry application solutions.
  • Entry-level experience in developing customer-centric solutions.
  • Working knowledge in most areas of technology (infrastructure, commercial applications, software development, end-user platforms, IT operations).
  • Planning experience, especially in designing longer-term strategies.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of architecture concepts and the ability to integrate business needs and technology capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Supply Chain and/or nuclear lines of business.
