About the position
The IBM Z Mainframe System Verification Tester Apprentice role is designed for individuals eager to learn and grow in the field of mainframe technology. This apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in the final stages of IBM Z server product development, focusing on validating and qualifying design, architecture, and code. Apprentices will work closely with experienced engineers in a laboratory environment, applying their knowledge to create and execute test plans that assess the performance of IBM processors and other semiconductor hardware.
Responsibilities
- Work in IBM Z Engineering System Test to validate and qualify mainframe products.
- Create and execute test or physical characterization plans.
- Assess electrical performance and characteristics against design and functional requirements.
- Learn principles of system analysis, defect identification, and repair.
- Follow lab safety procedures relevant to physical preparation of samples for testing.
Requirements
- Willingness to complete the requirements of the apprenticeship program.
- Some knowledge or experience in soldering and de-soldering.
- Basic understanding of electrical safety and electron theory.
- Familiarity with AC basics and computer electronics.
- Experience with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
