As a Mainframe System Verification Tester Apprentice at IBM, you will engage in the final stage of IBM Z server product development, focusing on validating and qualifying design, architecture, and code. This role offers hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, where you will create and execute test plans to assess the performance of IBM processors and other semiconductor hardware. You will receive training in system analysis, defect identification, and lab safety procedures, while working closely with experienced engineers and technicians.

  • Create and execute test or physical characterization plans to assess electrical performance.
  • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a laboratory or test floor environment.
  • Learn and apply principles of system analysis and defect identification.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art tools to test and inspect product chips.
  • Interpret and consolidate data obtained from testing.
  • Willingness to complete the requirements of the apprenticeship program.
  • Some knowledge or experience in soldering and de-soldering.
  • Basic understanding of electrical safety and electron theory.
  • Familiarity with AC basics and computer electronics.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
