About the position

The ICAC Investigator position within the Office of the Attorney General's Criminal Law Division is a sworn law enforcement role focused on investigating technology-facilitated crimes against children. The investigator will work within the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC), handling cases of exploitation, enticement, and sextortion. This role requires collaboration with various law enforcement agencies and involves reviewing CyberTips, executing search warrants, conducting interviews, and testifying in court. The position also includes a mental health resiliency program due to the sensitive nature of the content encountered during investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate cases involving technology-facilitated crimes against children.
  • Review CyberTips received from electronic service providers.
  • Draft and execute search warrants.
  • Conduct interviews and prepare reports.
  • Maintain investigative case files and testify in court.
  • Collaborate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
  • View graphic content for investigative purposes to establish crimes and locate evidence.

Requirements

  • Current Idaho POST Certification of Intermediate level or higher.
  • Minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of law enforcement experience.
  • Above-average communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, policies, and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law enforcement service.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience investigating ICAC cases is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with technology and interest in technology-related investigations.
