About the position

The Ice Hockey Game Ops Manager at Ford Center - Evansville is responsible for overseeing all creative and entertainment strategies for the ice hockey team. This role involves creating and managing video content, graphics packages, and player-related materials that enhance the game-day experience. The Game Ops Manager will collaborate with the corporate sales department to develop new deliverables and ensure that all sold deliverables are fulfilled effectively. Additionally, the manager will produce engaging game night events, including promotions during stoppages in play, intermission contests, and pre-game activities, all based on a prepared script. The position requires the implementation and execution of game day operations, which includes organizing contests, activities in the concourse, and pre-game ceremonies. Maintaining an appropriate arena atmosphere that aligns with VenuWorks' standard of excellence is crucial. The Game Ops Manager will also be responsible for writing and assembling game scripts, PA logs, lineup sheets, and game notes in conjunction with the corporate and creative departments. Acting as a liaison between the arena operations crew and the team is another key responsibility, ensuring smooth communication and coordination. Furthermore, the Game Ops Manager will oversee off-ice officials, coordinate pre-game production meetings with game operations and intern staff, and manage the hiring and scheduling of game day staff and interns, including coordinating their pay. This role is essential in creating a memorable and engaging experience for fans and players alike during ice hockey events.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all of team's creative/entertainment strategies
  • Create and oversee all team video, creative graphics packages; player-related video board content, video board graphics, collateral materials, brand management, etc.
  • Work with the corporate sales department to create new deliverables as they are sold and develop a system that ensures that sold deliverables are fulfilled
  • Produce game night events including stoppage in play promotions, intermission contests, pre-game activities, etc. based on a prepared script
  • Implement and execute game day operations including game contests, concourse activities and pre-game ceremonies
  • Maintain appropriate arena atmosphere that is in line with VenuWorks standard of excellence
  • Write (in conjunction with corporate/creative departments), print, and assemble game scripts and PA logs, lineup sheets, and game notes
  • Act as a liaison between arena operations crew and team
  • Responsible for off-ice officials
  • Coordinate pre-game production meeting with game ops and intern staff
  • Coordinate and hire game day staff, interns, etc. and schedule and coordinate their pay

Requirements

  • Experience in event management or game operations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in video editing and graphic design software
  • Knowledge of ice hockey and its operations
