About the position

The ICP-MS Scientist position at ChRi Laboratories, Inc. is a full-time role focused on operating and optimizing the Agilent ICP-MS 7800 system for trace elemental analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for method development, data analysis, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong technical background in ICP-MS and a commitment to producing high-quality data.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the Agilent ICP-MS 7800 instrument for precise and accurate trace element quantification.
  • Perform daily instrument maintenance actions to ensure consistent and optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with the Agilent ICP-MS 7800 and other lab equipment as necessary.
  • Optimize and verify standard ICP-MS methods for specific research or client needs.
  • Perform sample preparation and matrix-matching techniques to improve detection limits and reduce interferences.
  • Evaluate and implement applications of new matrices for analytical accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Analyze, interpret, and document results, ensuring high-quality data integrity.
  • Maintain detailed records of procedures, analyses, and results, following GLP/GMP standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and papers summarizing findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure laboratory operations comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce laboratory best practices, including waste management, chemical handling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality control, and regulatory affairs.
  • Train and mentor junior staff members on ICP-MS techniques and protocols.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in ICP-MS, preferably with the Agilent ICP-MS 7800.
  • Extensive experience with ICP-MS instrumentation and use of standard methods.
  • Proficiency in Agilent Mass Hunter software and data analysis platforms.
  • Strong understanding of trace metal analysis, matrix effects, and interference management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in GMP/GLP-compliant laboratories.
  • Prior experience in environmental, pharmaceutical, or industrial laboratories.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, such as EPA, FDA, or EU guidelines.
