About the position

The ICU RN Full Time Days position at ScionHealth involves providing critical care to patients in an intensive care unit setting. The role requires the nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while serving as an advocate for patients and supervising other caregivers. The ICU RN is responsible for maintaining high standards of nursing care, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote positive clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality patient care to critically ill patients through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation.
  • Serves as a patient advocate at all times.
  • Supervises the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers.
  • Develops the nursing care plan in coordination with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Applies critical thinking to promote positive clinical outcomes and ensures patient education.
  • Participates in discharge planning and maintains nursing care standards.
  • Assesses patients on admission and makes referrals to other disciplines as needed.
  • Documents patient assessments, care plans, and other relevant information in the electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrates correct use of biomedical equipment and ensures safe delivery of patient care.
  • Obtains consents for procedures and blood transfusions, ensuring informed patient decisions.
  • Receives and accurately transcribes physician's orders, ensuring follow-through on orders.
  • Recognizes and responds to changes in patient conditions, instituting emergency actions as necessary.
  • Administers medications with knowledge of actions, side effects, and correct dosages according to ICU policies.
  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patients.
  • Assists physicians with special tests and procedures and participates in the orientation of new personnel.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
  • BCLS certification and ACLS required.
  • Minimum one year training and experience in Critical Care.
