About the position

K12, a Stride Company, is dedicated to providing families with an online option for a high-quality, personalized education experience. The IEP Facilitator plays a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities by leading the instructional program and advocating for their needs through the IEP process. This full-time position requires the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office environment. The IEP Facilitator will be responsible for managing the IEP process, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local mandates, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support student success. The role involves maintaining confidentiality, organizing records, and assisting parents in understanding and implementing their child's IEP. The IEP Facilitator will also provide training and support to school staff on effective teaching techniques and positive behavioral supports. This position is essential in fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity within the educational environment, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to thrive and succeed in their educational journey.

Responsibilities

  • Send Prior Written Notice Letters to families for upcoming IEP meetings.
  • Maintain the master IEP meeting tracker in Share Point.
  • Effectively communicate procedures and best practices to staff through regular meetings.
  • Inform the Special Programs Manager of concerns/issues that may be supervisory in nature.
  • Assist the team, administration, professional staff, and support staff with the effective implementation of federal, state, and local mandates.
  • Assist parents in problem-solving and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to support the development and implementation of their child's IEP.
  • Provide school staff with information on positive behavioral supports and other effective teaching techniques.
  • Maintain all confidential folders and IEPs to ensure completeness and compliance.
  • Assure confidentiality and organization of records through observable procedures consistent with administrative directives.
  • Collaborate with counseling staff/administration to assure proper class scheduling.
  • Share/disseminate accommodations of students with general education staff.
  • Assist IEP teams in the development and implementation of Transition plans.
  • Effectively use SER and data management systems.
  • Collect data and work samples to support selection and implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
  • Document all contact with parents, collaborations with general education teachers, and interventions with students.
  • Develop the student's IEP, meeting all annual review timelines and notification requirements.
  • Maintain all required reports as assigned by the Special Education Manager including student progress reports and report cards.
  • Maintain current student files according to the current file checklist.
  • Ensure that assigned students participate in statewide testing and receive monitored accommodations as defined by the IEP.
  • Input testing accommodations in Testing Nirvana and maintain SER, LA state reporting program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Programs Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Three (3) years of special education teaching experience.
  • Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in Special Education under No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
  • Special Education Licensure.
  • Must reside in Louisiana.
  • Strong interpersonal skills emphasizing tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Ability to adapt learning plans to meet different needs and learning styles.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in decision-making.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Understanding of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other pertinent regulations.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensing as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
