About the position

The IES Database Support Analyst I position at the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology involves supporting the Illinois Department of Health & Human Services by reviewing and analyzing functional system requirements. The role focuses on ensuring that end user needs are met through modifications and enhancements to existing systems. The analyst will work with various data sources, conduct software implementation duties, and provide technical expertise in database design and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze functional system requirements and compare them to end user needs/requests for modifications.
• Conduct large complex database/systems software implementation duties as a team member on both enterprise and individual program applications.
• Provide technical expertise in the production of detailed database designs and design documentation, including data modules and data flow diagrams.
• Complete maintenance and performance tuning of system databases to ensure optimum efficiency using software products such as DB2 and AIX.
• Determine solutions to problems and prepare recommendations and impact statements for project management.
• Prepare written and graphical reports depicting development progress for management.
• Keep abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field through continuing education, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences.

Requirements

• Experience in reviewing and analyzing functional system requirements.
• Proficiency in creating queries from TANF, SNAP, and Medical Eligibility Systems sources.
• Technical expertise in database design and documentation.
• Knowledge of database maintenance and performance tuning, particularly with DB2 and AIX.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with enterprise and individual program applications.
• Experience in preparing graphical reports for management.
