The Inspector/Feeder/Catcher (IFC) position at Smurfit Westrock is a critical role within the Finishing department, focusing on the efficient handling and quality assurance of cartons. This position encompasses three primary functions: feeding cartons into the production line, receiving and hand packing cartons, and inspecting the cartons for any defects, including contamination and non-conformance. The role requires flexibility as employees may rotate among these functions based on job needs, ensuring a dynamic work environment that adapts to production demands. As an IFC, you will be responsible for safely operating material handling equipment, including both manual and electric pallet jacks. Following detailed instructions for the handling of various types of cartons is essential, as is the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be expected to fill out production and quality forms accurately, identify defects in cartons, and maintain production goals to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met. The position also involves physical tasks such as moving cut loads into position for gluing, feeding cartons into the feed boxes on gluers, packing cartons into cases from the gluer delivery, and conducting quality checks on the finished products. Additionally, you will assist the operator during the make-ready process and perform line clearance during changeovers, contributing to a smooth and efficient production flow.
