About the position

The IFRS Actuary position at Safety National involves providing actuarial guidance on methodology and processes to support the implementation of IFRS 17 across the enterprise. The role requires collaboration with various departments, including Actuarial Services, IT, and Finance, and offers the opportunity to work closely with the parent company, Tokio Marine. The actuary will be responsible for developing documentation of actuarial methods and data for financial reporting, as well as supporting testing and quality assurance of IFRS 17 programming and systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial guidance on methodology and processes for IFRS 17 implementation.
• Develop documentation of actuarial methods and data for financial reporting.
• Support testing and quality assurance of IFRS 17 programming, tools, and systems.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Actuarial Services, IT, and Finance.
• Assist with financial and claims-related items to help the organization succeed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Associate of Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).
• 3 or more years of experience in the actuarial field or related role.
• Advanced Excel capabilities.
• Prior professional experience with SQL.
• Strong professional communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 or more years of experience in the actuarial field or related role.
• Advanced SQL skills including editing and/or writing custom queries.
• Programming experience in Python, SAS, R or other languages.
• Basic knowledge of IFRS 17.
