About the position

The IHSS Caregiver position is a part-time role focused on providing essential care to a paralyzed male patient in Downey, CA. The caregiver will work directly with the patient, performing specific caregiving tasks without the need for driving, cooking, or companionship. The position offers a structured routine and a stress-free work environment, with guaranteed work for a minimum of one year.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient transfers using a Manual Hoyer-Lift.
• Perform dressing and application of compression socks for the patient.
• Provide diapering and cleaning care, including experience with a Disimpaction Bowel Program.
• Administer wound care as directed by a registered nurse.
• Follow a structured routine for patient care during the scheduled hours.

Requirements

• Experience as a caregiver with a focus on patient care.
• Current IHSS Provider with a valid provider number.
• Ability to use a Manual Hoyer-Lift effectively.
• Experience with turning patients using a Drawsheet.
• Knowledge of dressing patients and applying compression socks.
• Experience with diapering and cleaning a paralyzed patient.
• Wound care experience and ability to follow RN directions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with additional caregiving tasks such as evening or weekend care if desired.
