About the position
Intoxalock, a subsidiary of Mindr, is the largest ignition interlock provider in the United States, dedicated to assisting individuals in navigating the DUI process. With over 30 years of experience, Intoxalock has helped millions regain their driving privileges safely after a DUI incident. The company has pioneered alcohol-specific fuel cell technology, setting the industry standard for ignition interlock devices. The Install Technician plays a crucial role in this mission by ensuring the correct and efficient installation and maintenance of Intoxalock interlock devices in customer vehicles. This position involves not only the installation but also the recalibration and removal of devices, as well as troubleshooting any issues that may arise during the installation process. Technicians are expected to provide activation instructions and training to customers, ensuring they understand how to operate the device effectively. The Install Technician will be responsible for adhering to state program rules during installations, calibrations, repairs, and removals of breath alcohol ignition interlock devices. This role requires a strong technical background, as technicians must diagnose and resolve any issues related to the installation or wiring of the Intoxalock equipment. Additionally, technicians must report any suspicions of equipment tampering or attempts to bypass the device, following all specified procedures to ensure compliance with state regulations. The position requires travel between Elizabeth City and Powells Point, with mileage reimbursement provided. Overall, this role is vital in supporting the company's mission to prevent impaired driving and assist individuals in restoring their driving privileges.
Responsibilities
- Installation, calibration, repair, and removal of breath alcohol ignition interlock devices in accordance with state program rules.
- Provide technical support to customers.
- Facilitate on-site training of customers with the activation and operation of an ignition interlock device.
- Install Intoxalock interlock devices into customer vehicles.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose reports of malfunctioning devices.
- Report any suspicion of equipment tampering or attempts to bypass the device.
- Follow all Intoxalock-specified procedures, including connecting all state-specified components.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with 12-volt systems, reading schematics, and troubleshooting installations.
- Experience in installation and servicing of stereo, alarm, remote start, or similar systems is preferred.
- High-quality installation experience and intermediate knowledge of automotive wiring.
- Experience with problem-solving and conflict resolution.
