About the position

The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (IHC) is seeking a talented Illustrator/Animator to join our team. This position is crucial for generating high-quality 2D illustrations, infographics, and 3D animations that will be utilized in research proposals, research papers, presentations, and website content. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed, accurate, and aesthetically pleasing visual content that effectively communicates complex concepts in the fields of medicine and computing. As an Illustrator/Animator, you will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to budgets and timelines. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that the final products meet the high standards of quality and creativity that the IHC is known for. This role requires a dedication to producing work that not only meets the technical requirements but also engages and informs the audience. Responsibilities

• Generate 2D illustrations, infographics, and 3D animations for various projects.
• Create detailed and accurate visual content that communicates complex concepts in medicine and computing.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting budgets and timelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality and creative final products.
• Work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Three years of professional illustration experience.
• Proficiency in illustration and animation software programs (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate).
• Proficiency in 3D software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Mudbox).
• Strong background in technical and scientific concepts.
• Superb illustration and animation skills.

Nice-to-haves

• M.S. if certified Medical Illustrator or MFA.
• Three years of professional scientific, medical or technical illustration experience.
• Ability to juggle projects under deadline pressure.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships in a diverse work environment.
