About the position

The Illustrator & Graphic Designer at Process Curiosity is responsible for overseeing and coordinating illustration and graphic design activities. This role focuses on creating engaging graphics for exhibitions, including signage and interpretive panels, while collaborating with internal teams, clients, and external vendors to ensure a consistent visual identity across all materials.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Design Officer in the conception and development of illustrations and graphical designs for various projects.
  • Prepare, layout, and design exhibit artwork, graphics, drawings, lettering, photographs, wall murals, posters, text panels, museum labels, charts, logos, signage, video and audio artwork, and sound recordings.
  • Build graphic design assets, including templates, branding and color themes, signage, and other related materials.
  • Participate in project meetings, including brainstorming/ideation, internal team meetings, and external client meetings.
  • Develop creative concepts that align with client needs, create rough drafts, and present final designs for client approval.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for all print production needs.
  • Support the sales & marketing team by designing documents for RFPs, creating advertisements, and generating assets for the website.
  • Collaborate in the development of the interpretive plan for assigned exhibition spaces.
  • Work on other areas, tasks, or collaborative teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of related experience or a college degree and 1 year of related experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), and MS Office Software (Word, Outlook, and Excel) or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of design or museum studies preferred.
  • A body of work that demonstrates relevant skills.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Familiarity with materials and mounting hardware for print production.
  • General understanding of 3D modeling software.
  • An organized approach to file management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both interpersonally and in writing.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Photography, Film, and Animation skills are a plus.
  • Familiarity with museum best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing content-rich, engaging experiences about science and technology.
