About the position
The IM Girls Basketball Coach at Challenger Middle School is responsible for coaching, developing, and supervising the girls' basketball program. This part-time position reports to the Athletic Director and/or a head coach, focusing on fostering both individual and team growth while ensuring a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. The coach will also be involved in planning practices, managing equipment, and maintaining communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provide coaching, development, and supervisory responsibilities for the girls' basketball program.
- Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director and maintain high expectations for athlete behavior.
- Develop practice plans that assist with individual skills progression and strategy development.
- Evaluate assistant coaches where applicable and ensure effective communication procedures are in place.
- Maintain and inventory equipment, ensuring it is stored and re-ordered as needed before the season.
- Supervise all facilities and athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.
- Plan for character development of all athletes in the program and ensure they are medically cleared to return to play after injuries.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Teaching Certification.
- ASEP Certification - American Sport Education Program.
- CHSAA Certification - Colorado High School Activities Association.
- NFHS Coaching Fundamentals Certification - National Federation of State High Schools.
- Initial or Professional Teacher License from the Colorado Department of Education.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in coaching basketball at the middle school or high school level.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
