About the position

The Mechanical Assembler position at Aerotek involves processing various types of steel and copper, operating machinery, and preparing parts for painting. This role is essential in ensuring the quality and efficiency of the assembly process in a job shop environment rather than a traditional assembly line.

Responsibilities

• Process various types of steel
• Recognize copper and steel thickness and gauges
• Cut copper & sheet steel on a shear (48x96)
• Operate shearing machinery
• Punch holes in copper and steel
• Wash, dry and prepare steel parts for paint
• Deburr and grind steel parts with hand tools

Requirements

• At least 2 years' experience as a Mechanical Assembler, Machine Builder, or Automotive Mechanic in a job shop environment
• Knowledge of electrical symbols and schematics
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to use shop equipment and hand tools
• Basic math skills including understanding of fractions and decimals
• Ability to take direction, follow instructions, and work positively with others
