About the position

KIPP Philadelphia Schools is seeking dedicated and culturally competent Kindergarten teachers to join their team immediately. This role is crucial in creating a joyful and academically excellent environment for students, ensuring they feel affirmed, valued, and challenged. Teachers will be responsible for developing engaging lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom culture, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all children feel affirmed, valued, and challenged every day.
  • Create rigorous, engaging unit and daily lesson plans leveraging provided curricula/resources.
  • Infuse core values into daily lessons and implement school-wide student culture systems and positive classroom management strategies.
  • Maintain a productive, organized, safe, neat, and focused learning environment.
  • Regularly analyze student work and academic data to adjust lessons and inform instructional practices.
  • Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all students.
  • Maintain accurate student grades/records and communicate with families regarding students' growth and progress.
  • Model and implement all school policies within the classroom.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Take ownership for the development of your craft through coaching and feedback.
  • Actively engage in all school-wide professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to tackle common challenges and implement grade-wide strategies.
  • Share candid, solutions-oriented feedback with peers and school leadership.
  • Attend designated school functions outside of school hours and contribute to school-wide events.
  • Develop strong relationships with families through home visits and participation in school events.
  • Perform necessary support duties including bus, lunch, and dismissal duties.
  • Chaperone field lessons/field trips.

Requirements

  • Love and see the high potential of all children.

  • Passion for subject/content area and commitment to professional learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to a school team.
  • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience in an urban setting strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Pennsylvania State certification Level I or II strongly preferred, or enrollment in a PA-approved certification program within one year of hire.
  • Complete all required criminal and child abuse background checks prior to start date.
