About the position
The Long Term Substitute Teacher for Spanish will be responsible for planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for middle school students at Herbert Hoover Middle School and Cabin John Middle School. This part-time position (0.8 FTE) requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to foster a conducive school culture for the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of adolescents. The teacher will supervise students, communicate with various stakeholders, and develop instructional plans tailored to meet diverse student needs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for middle school students.
- Supervise middle school students in various school-related settings.
- Communicate and collaborate with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Develop, select, and differentiate instructional plans and materials.
- Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
- Use data analysis to monitor student achievement.
- Monitor the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
Requirements
- Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and MCPS curriculum and policies.
- Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies appropriate for middle school students.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
