About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Science at Ridgeview Middle School is responsible for planning and providing appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to foster a supportive school culture that promotes the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. The teacher will supervise students in various school settings, communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community, and develop instructional plans tailored to meet diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for middle school students.
• Supervise students in various school-related settings.
• Communicate and collaborate with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Develop, select, and differentiate instructional plans and materials.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures.
• Use data analysis to monitor student achievement.
• Monitor the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
• Knowledge of adolescent development and MCPS curriculum and policies.
• Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
