About the position

Murray Osorio PLLC, a dynamic immigration law firm in Newark, NJ, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their growing team. The firm specializes in various immigration matters, including removal defense, humanitarian applications, and family-based immigration. Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on immigration matters.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documents with USCIS, DOS, EOIR, and other government agencies.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis of immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Monitor immigration policy and regulatory changes that could affect clients and provide guidance on compliance.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to ensure efficient and effective representation of clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and potential clients.
  • Complete work with limited to no guidance, though collaboration among colleagues is always encouraged.
  • Handle a significant caseload and meet minimum case completion metrics.
  • Conduct consultations for potential new clients.
  • Work with paralegals through case processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to work within a team setting.

Requirements

  • Active bar membership in New Jersey or New York in good standing.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Deep understanding of immigration law.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
  • 2 years of immigration experience, ideally removal defense.
  • 3 years' experience of drafting/writing legal documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
