About the position

The Center for New Americans is seeking a dedicated Immigration Paralegal for a part-time position, requiring 25 hours of work per week through October 31, 2024, with the potential for extension based on funding availability. This role is crucial in supporting the Staff Attorney in all facets of preparing and filing immigration cases within the Citizenship and Immigration Program. The Immigration Paralegal will engage directly with clients, assisting them in applying for a variety of immigration-related benefits, including humanitarian relief options such as asylum, family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), advanced parole/travel documents, replacement green cards, fee waivers, and work authorization. The responsibilities of the Immigration Paralegal will include drafting letters, completing necessary forms, and collecting and compiling all required documentation. Continuous communication with clients is essential, starting from the initial intake process through to the completion of applications, interviews, and final decisions. This position is integral to ensuring that clients receive the support and guidance they need throughout their immigration journey. The Center for New Americans is a community-based, non-profit adult education center dedicated to serving the underserved immigrant, refugee, and migrant communities in Massachusetts' Pioneer Valley. The organization focuses on providing education and resources that empower individuals to learn English, engage as community members, and acquire the tools necessary for economic independence and stability.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Paralegal experience is required.
