About the position

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms, is seeking to hire an Immigration Paralegal who will report to the Senior Manager of Legal Practice Support. This position is based in either our Washington DC, Dallas, Miami, or San Francisco office and offers a flexible, hybrid in-office/remote working arrangement. The Immigration Paralegal will be part of our internationally-recognized immigration practice, which is dynamic and collegial, providing excellent opportunities for professional growth and the support of one of the world's largest full-service law firms. The primary functions of this role include assisting attorneys with the preparation and filing of a broad range of immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications, with a focus on writing-intensive cases such as O-1 and I-140 Extraordinary Ability/Outstanding Researcher/National Interest Waiver petitions. The paralegal will engage in written and oral communication with clients to gather necessary information and documents required for the preparation of petitions and applications. Additionally, the role involves entering, updating, and maintaining data in the immigration case management system, managing a caseload, tracking critical deadlines, and running active case workload and client NIV expiration reports. The Immigration Paralegal will also attend team meetings and continue educational programs and seminars, as well as enter and close time entries in the firm's time recording system. This position requires strong writing and analytical skills, excellent prioritization and time management abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a client-first work ethic and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, enabling effective interaction with all levels of personnel within the organization and with external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with preparation and filing of immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications.
  • Focus on writing-intensive cases such as O-1 and I-140 petitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Interest in pursuing business immigration as a career.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge or experience with the immigration practice area, preferred.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Attention to detail and good independent judgment.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and work overtime as needed.
  • Strong client-first work ethic.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

Nice-to-haves

  • Paralegal certificate obtained through a paralegal studies program approved by the ABA or from an accredited college or university, preferred.
  • Majors in Journalism, Communication, or Creative Writing are encouraged to apply.
