About the position

The Immigration Paralegal will work closely with attorneys in the practice group, focusing primarily on business and employment-related immigration cases. This role is essential in ensuring that all immigration-related documentation is prepared accurately and submitted in a timely manner. The Immigration Paralegal will be responsible for reviewing and maintaining files, preparing correspondence, and conducting legal research to support the attorneys in their work. This position requires a thorough understanding of immigration procedures and processes, as well as the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines. In this role, the Immigration Paralegal will draft, review, and file various petitions, including H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, J-1, and E-1/E-2 visa petitions, as well as PERM applications, immigrant visa petitions, and adjustment of status applications. The paralegal will gather facts and documentation necessary to support these petitions and will be responsible for maintaining and organizing client matters and calendars. Additionally, the Immigration Paralegal will draft correspondence regarding procedural matters, status updates, and letters in support of petitions, ensuring that all communication is clear and professional. The position also involves interaction with government agencies, including the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which requires the paralegal to have a solid understanding of legal terminology and principles. The ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy and to prioritize tasks effectively is crucial for success in this role. The Immigration Paralegal will play a vital role in the immigration process, helping clients navigate the complexities of immigration law and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and file various petitions including H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, J-1 and E-1/E-2 visa petitions, PERM applications, immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status applications.
  • Gather facts and documentation in support of petitions.
  • Review files for status, maintain and organize client matters and calendars.
  • Draft correspondence regarding procedural matters, status updates and letters in support of petitions.
  • Interact with government agencies, including the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of immigration procedures and processes
  • In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently while remaining focused on deadlines and multiple projects
  • Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
  • Working knowledge of INSZoom
  • Associate's degree in related discipline required
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in similar field required
  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program preferred.
